What Apptonic is
Apptonic is a market intelligence platform for app founders and marketers. It aggregates organic social content, paid ads and app store data into a single searchable dataset, and links every ad, creator and video to the app it actually drives. Search any app and you can see the creators who posted about it, the ads running for it, and the organic videos that took off — matched to that specific app rather than to a keyword.
Where the data comes from
- Organic social
- TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Videos that mention or demonstrate an app, with view, like and engagement counts and a virality signal per video.
- Paid ads
- Meta Ads and TikTok Ads. Live creatives, how long each has been running, and how many variants an advertiser is testing.
- App stores
- App Store and Google Play. Listing metadata, ratings, review text and sentiment, and estimated monthly installs and revenue split by store with twelve months of history.
- Creators
- Accounts resolved across platforms, with follower counts, country where known, and the apps they have posted about.
How matching works
The hard part of this dataset is not collecting content, it is deciding which app a given ad or video is actually about. A keyword match is not good enough: app names collide with unrelated products, creators show an app on screen without ever naming it in the caption, and advertisers run several apps from one page.
So every ad, creator and video is linked to a specific app and scored by confidence, and that score is visible rather than hidden. You can see how strong a connection is instead of assuming every result is equally reliable.
What the numbers can and cannot tell you
Install and revenue figures are estimates, modelled from public store signals. They are not reported figures from anyone's accounts, and no third-party tool has access to those. Treat them the way you would a weather forecast: reliable for direction and relative scale, unreliable in the specifics.
They are good for spotting a trend across weeks, comparing two apps measured the same way, and correlating a spike with a launch or a creative push. They cannot tell you retention, churn, refund rates or lifetime value. Nothing observable from outside an app can.
Who it is for
App founders working out how competitors in their category grew, user-acquisition managers researching creative before committing budget, and marketers sourcing UGC creators who have already made content for comparable apps. Browsing the dataset is free; see pricing for what credits are spent on, and the guides for how people use it in practice.
